Release 2026.12.1

November 7, 2026

Video Commander 2026.12.1 is a maintenance release for 2026.12.0, the October feature release. Analyze can score encodes stored in cloud storage, the release notes are easier to find your way around, the app no longer quits at launch when it cannot write its log file, and several bundled components get security updates. Here are the highlights:

Version 2026.12.1 is available now from the download page.

Analyze

Scoring encodes on S3

An encode stored in S3 can be scored like a local file. Picking one from Recent Outputs as the encode for a VMAF analysis used to start a job that failed straight away, because FFmpeg was given the file's S3 location rather than a link it could download.

Analyze now creates that download link when the job starts, so a job that waited in the queue never starts on an expired one. Saved results keep the file's S3 location rather than the temporary link, so Frame Compare and Compare keep working on them later.

What's New

The highlights at the top of a release's notes jump to the section that describes them, the way they do on the website. Screenshots show at their actual size, up to the width of the notes, rather than stretched to fill it.

Fixes

  • The app opens on a Mac where it cannot write its log file. It used to quit straight away at launch.
  • The About window opens at its final size. On the first open after launch, the license details appeared a moment later and made the window jump.
  • Several components the app bundles get security updates, including the ones that handle secure connections, unpack the FFmpeg download and check imported Convert presets.
