Install Video Commander

Download and install the desktop app on macOS or Windows, then keep it up to date.

Linux builds are not available yet.

macOS

Download the universal .dmg from the download page.
Open the disk image and drag Video Commander into Applications.
Open Video Commander from Applications.

The macOS build is signed and notarized. If macOS reports that the disk image is damaged or incomplete, download it again rather than bypassing Gatekeeper.

Windows

Download the x64 setup .exe from the download page.
Run the installer.
Open Video Commander from the Start menu.

The installer is digitally signed. Windows may still show a reputation warning for a recently published build; check that the publisher is Video Commander before continuing.

FFmpeg

Inspecting MP4, MOV, Matroska, AVI, HLS, and DASH does not require a separate FFmpeg installation. Convert, Delivery, and Analyze do.

Open Settings → Local Tools to use FFmpeg from your system PATH, install the app-managed build, or select a custom binary. The app verifies both ffmpeg and ffprobe and shows which encoders and formats that build provides. See Configure FFmpeg for the complete setup.

Updates

Video Commander checks for signed updates when it starts. You can also choose Check for Updates from the application menu. Release notes and previous installers remain available on the changelog and the public release archive.
